Shinichiro Asayama is JSPS Research Fellow at Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University, Japan, currently a Visiting Scholar at Department of Geography, University of Cambridge, UK. As an environmental social scientist, he studies the roles of narratives and imaginaries in the societal debate around climate change. He is interested in understanding how people construct climate change as a narrative for social change (or non-change). His research is broadly focused on the politics of scientific knowledge and technological imaginaries in the science-policy interface of climate change. In particular, through interdisciplinary social science analysis, he studies the role of discourses, framings and narratives in shaping the public debates around the IPCC, CCS and climate geoengineering.
